Hedgerows are an attractive and evocative part of our rural landscapes, but they also provide essential food and shelter for many animals, link up habitats, and create micro-climates where some rare and beautiful plants can grow.
Over centuries techniques have been developed to efficiently nurture and manage hedgerows to give healthy and effective boundaries and rich habitats. Join us for a day of practical hedge maintenance where you can learn these skills.
We will be coppicing and laying a hedge and planting new hedgerow trees and shrubs. There will be a talk on the tools from experienced practitioners, following which we will be getting our hands dirty!
The workshop is free, all tools are provided and no previous experience is necessary.
