Allendale Film Club

Judi Dench as Queen Victoria? Or Nicole Kidman as Virginia Woof?

Michael Sheen as David Frost? Or Colin Firth as the painter Vermeer?

Whatever your taste in actor or film there’s bound to be something to your liking at the Allendale Film Club – and that’s not including the free wine and cheese prior to each screening!

And although there are quite a few ’biopics’ like those above (*) to widen one’s knowledge of people and history we have a good selection of fictional dramas, many of them released within the preceding

12 months. As of 1.1.15 those films include Blue Jasmine, The Book Thief and Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

Our venue is the Allendale Village Hall, with screenings scheduled for the fourth Monday of each month at 7.45, with our refreshments from 7.15 (apart from August, when we can’t hire/show a film, and December when Xmas dictates a slightly earlier date).

Finally, watching films is our reason for existing…. We don’t require members to listen to talks or discuss films, though they may well do so in the convivial half hour of wine and cheese!

£6 is the current charge for each showing, plus a small membership charge of £1 payable on your first attendance of the year. We hope to get an email address from all new members, enabling us to send out reminders for the forthcoming film, plus the full schedule for each new ‘season’.
