Mike and Jane Swindale invite you to come stay at Blacketts Retreat, in their Grade 2 listed cottage set in the spectacular North Pennines.
Steeped in character and local history, Newhouses was built in 1788 by local industrialist, Sir Thomas Blackett. Originally a short row of cottages providing houses for workers in the Allenheads lead mines, today it is a warm and comfortable retreat with welcoming fires and the most amazing views over the Allen Valleys and fells.
The gardens are home to our free range chickens and ducks, while the fields around us boast stunning displays of local birds and wildlife, including roe deer and red squirrels.
Popular with cyclists on the Coast to Coast route, the area is also a walker’s paradise with treks for all ability levels and lots of lovely cafes for those who wish to relax in beautiful surroundings
Janine also runs Hypnobirthing, Complimentary therapy and Reiki Retreats for those seeking knowledge, deep relaxation and time out.
